Candidates of the NDHSRA AQHA
Horse of the Year must be nominated by March 1 of the nominating
year. The winner is the AQHA registered horse that earns the most over all points at that year's High School Finals.

Little Man is a 9 year old sorrel gelding that Jake bought from a friend in Colorado two years ago. Little Man is such a nice horse to be around. When he is in the arena he is all business and when he's outside the arena anyone can ride him. Jake was very honored to receive this award. High School Rodeo is a great sport to be in and will be greatly missed! |

Owner: Kenny & Jodi Benson (but really we have little say in his life!! Jade is in control J)
We bought him when he was 4 years old, he was “green-broke” so to speak or broke to ride. Kenny and Jade have done all the finish work on him. They started with heeling, and then heading and breakaway, then worked into the poles and barrels. It has been a struggle at times; when training your own horse, but in the end it has been extremely rewarding for both Jade and Kenny. She is very thankful to have a father that is helpful with training and practice. Jade uses Rocky for all of her rodeo events: breakaway roping, teamroping: heading, barrels, poles, and goat tying. Thank you to the North Dakota HS rodeo association for all the opportunities that you have provided to the kids that are forunate enough to rodeo for North Dakota and to the AQHA for this award. |
