NDHSRA members and or parents, if you are up for a creative challenge for an excellent cause we need you!

We are looking for a few creative people to put together a North Dakota basket offering to be taken to Farmington NM during the NHSRA Finals in July.

Each year, every state or province that participates in the NHSRA is encouraged to donate a basket that represents their state. The "baskets" are rarely a basket, more so a creative container that is within the size limitations... the offerings within the basket are comprised of many interesting items, ranging from art work, ND foods, western gear, handmade tack, ND jewelry etc... that we have been fortunate to have people donate or sell at a discount. Although the baskets can be filled with whatever you wish!

The baskets are silently bid on during the NHSRA Finals which will be held in Farmington NM in July 2008 the baskets are also voted on for best of show. ND's basket received reserve Best of Show in 2006 and raised over 1000.00 dollars alone!!! The donated baskets will be on display and silently bid on during the NHSRA finals but can be bid on by anybody that loves the sport of rodeo early by contacting a NDHSRA student or adult board member, before the NHDSRA finals starts in New Mexico. All the monies raised from the silent auction is put towards the NHSRA Crisis Fund which is available to all NHSRA members. The auction concludes towards the end of the finals.

If you would be willing to head up this project or have an item you would like to donate, we'd love to hear from you. Some ND kids have benefited from this fund in the past--

The National High School Rodeo Association established the NHSRA Crisis Fund in April 1995. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to offset the costs associated with an injury or death sustained by a NHSRA member at a sanctioned high school rodeo or while traveling to or from a high school rodeo.

As of October 2002, the NHSRA Crisis Fund had funds in excess of $108,000. Contributions, donations and memorials to the fund are greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible. Contributions should be made payable to the NHSRA Crisis Fund and sent to the NHSRA, 12001 Tejon, Suite 128, Denver, CO 80234.
The NHSRA Crisis Fund For additional information on the NHSRA Crisis Fund or to receive an application and criteria for payments, please contact the NHSRA National Headquarters at: crisisfund@NHSRA.org

REMINDER:

The United States Team Roping Championship, Inc. (USTRC) awards eight regional shoot out spots per NHSRA state and province (Four per High School and four per the Wrangler Division). These shoot-out spots will be awarded to the top four teams at the state/provincial finals (Contestants must be a USTRC member prior to state/provincial finals rodeo). This sponsorship award is held to the following restrictions and criteria:

The NHSRA/Wrangler Division team roping members awarded USTRC regional shoot-out positions can use this position to compete in any one of the USTRC regional shoot-out ropings.

A state or province will not be allowed to roll down to any member finishing lower than fourth place in the team roping if a position is unfilled or a member is deemed ineligible to compete.

To utilize any USTRC shoot-out position, a NHSRA/Wrangler Division member earning this position must be current members of the USTRC, and in good standing at the time the shoot-out spot was earned (the beginning of their respective state/provincial finals).

USTRC regional and national shoot-out positions awarded through this sponsorship to NHSRA/Wrangler Division members are defined as “an earned right to compete in these special USTRC shoot-out ropings”. However, those NHSRA/Wrangler Division members earning a USTRC shoot-out position through this sponsorship will still be responsible for any entry fees associated with the USTRC shoot-out roping.
